Tink's journey with Hepatitis C

Bad Week

I guess I've got off pretty lightly over the last 6 months, all things considering. Well, this week has more than made up for it. I have taken more paracetemol during the last 10 days than I have in the last year. I am in constant pain - sort of sciatic nerve pain but all over the body - and it has slowly got me down. I'm also now beginning to hate to take the wretched drugs because I know they are the cause of my pain. The virus has gone, my liver is normal and here I am feeling worse than ever. I can't tell you how tempting it is to jack it all in. But, I won't, I am far too stubborn!

I've slept most of the time during my tx but now I can't sleep. This isn't helping matters, I know. I am loathe to take anything - I couldn't face yet another type of drug in my system. I shall be so bloody glad when this is over.

I need something to cheer myself up - havn't the energy for the retail therapy so perhaps a banana sarni - I've become addicted to carbs which is probably my brain telling my sytem that I need more energy. I've also become addicted to Sudoku but that takes a bit longer and I need an instant fix.

At least my brain is still managing to stay alive - I even got a 'top' at bridge this week - perhaps the drugs are doing some good?

The banana sandwich calls.... bye

  • Hi Tink,
I don't know what to say, I really feel for you. Well done for doing so well at bridge. It was skill and not the drugs, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We both like Sudoku trouble is it's very addictive, and takes far too much time. Just a thought, why don't you come and join in on the forum sometimes. It might help a bit and others will be around to lend an ear if you need it.
You have done so well, every day is a step nearer the end of treatment. You will make it, I know you will, you are not a quitter!
    Take care,
    Carol

  • Hi Tink,

Sorry to hear that you're having some down time. The sleepless thing can really be awful. Like you, I couldn't tolerate the thought of putting any further pharmaceuticals into my body - the treatment just seemed like more than enough. Ron and Carol suggested lavendar and vetiver aromatherapy for the insomnia and it was helpful, for me. Purchased the essential oils from health food store, put a few drops of one on pillowcase at night, rotated the scents every few days.

Your brain is still be functioning in prime mode - congrats on the bridge! Hope your body is feeling much better soon. Enjoy the banana sandwich!

  • I also have Hep C. No one but family knows I have the virus. If I had not gotten pregnant, I would have never known. My son will soon turn 3 and is negative for the virus.
In December, I am having to go for a biopsy to see why my liver count has nearly doubled in the last 4 months. I was on the internet, trying to get some info when I came across your blog.
I just wanted to thank you for being brave enough to share this with us. I am not at that strong at all. I live in a private hell for trying something with my boyfriend one time (yes a needle was involved). Now I will have to suffer with this for the rest of my life and worry that my son remains Hep C negative.
    Thank you again.
    Be well.

  • Sad to say I just got back from a bowling tournament and decided to log in and do some websurfing. Tink I love your blog. I had some very good laughs. I am doing a paper on massage therapy journal and have been downloading information for the last hour. I don’t know how I came across this post but I am glad I did. It has set me back a little because I have spent the last hour reading your archives. If you don’t mind I would like to add you to my favorites so I can back again and read some more. Well I need to get back to massage therapy journal. I am almost finished with it. Great job.

  • Hi Tink
Have been reading your blog for ages, sorry to hear things have been a bit difficult. I am now week 42 and it's been a struggle, but as you say there really is no choice but to carry on. There are times when it IS harder, and times you will feel better, and every day done is a day nearer the end. I think it helps to think like that when you aren't feeling good. When things are going well is the time to think about the positive aspects which tx can bring, the re-evaluation of yourself and your world. Sue Toronto made a list of 10 postitives of tx after she finished, it is on her blog and on Ron's forum, and is well worth a look when you're feeling down. I see it's a while since your post, and hope you're feeling better now. Courage, sister!
    Best wishes
    Maggie

  • I just got the news in september of this year that I have Hep C, and apparently have had it for over 12 years. I am waiting on getting help for the cost of the Pegasys interferon. Then, I start down this road. A dear friend in California found your blog and sent me a link! Thank you for the devotion to your fellow man and your dogged determination to record your thoughts, feelings and experiences through this bad experience for our good! Rick in NW ARK :)

I’m Stephenie Brown, i was diagnosed with Hepatitis B 4 years ago, i lived in pain with the knowledge that i wasn’t going to ever be well again.I have used several antiviral medications include Entacavir, lamivudine but this could not fight the virus off me rather i got side effects of fever, muscle and joint pain. After  spending so much money on antiviral drugs but I never get better.I made a research on the internet for herbal medicine. AS I was determined to get my lifestyle back and to be able to do things I am restricted from doing, I saw a lady’s post on how Herbal Dr. JAMES cured her  from Hiv virus with his herbal mix medicine.
